Subject: SpiTune Rocks!
Good to see the boys are still going strong as I haven't seen them in along time. I came across this show during a search and wish there were more to listen to. Fred did a nice job on the recording (He's been a taper head for quite awile now.) The show I saw didn't have as much electric guitar but Keith was there with his banjo which was noticeably missing from this show. Doc sounded great as usual on the harmonica. Also missing was Fred's brother Chris on acoustic guitar and vocals. Pretty good performance but they had to tone it down for the family atmosphere. I highly recommend seeing them in a club so they can get a little nastier. and let out all the stops. The bluegrass rearrangement they did on "You Can't Always Get What You Want" is priceless. In "Visit Me" you can really hear the influence in the lyrics from Larry "Captain Lunchmeat" Gottenberg who is their true "spitual leader" and lyricist on many tunes. Having hung with these guys for many years(and growing up next door to Fred) I'm somewhat biased but this band should definitely be put on your "Need to see" list as they are very funny and talented. Check their website at www.spitune.com for show details and message board.

Subject: These Guys ROCK!
I had the opportunity to catch SpiTune at the party this recording was made at. I didn't expect too much, as it was only a block party, But these guys blew me away with their unique, irreverent, and frequently hilarious songs and attitude. A lot of there material had a bluegrass feel to it. Although there was no banjo at this performance, I am told that they frequently have one sitting in. I am also told that the material was toned down for the family setting of this party. What they did have at this show was one of the most shredding electric guitarists I've ever seen. Bill Fowler, AKA the Rev. B.Ill, rips up heavy metal style solos on songs with a bluegrass rythem! I've never seen or heard anything like it, and it ROCKED. The quality of this recording is what I would consider rather good, for being an outside party. I've GOT to see these guys with the guitar / banjo combo! Good stuff!

Notes

The screaming girls you can hear far away in the background are in a moon-bounce.
